Internship Q & A’s:

What did you learn from Cate in your interning with her?

“A terrific introduction to Ayurvedic medicine, principles, and practices. Also, the study of Anusara Yoga changed my definition of what yoga should be focusing on—now I always look for an Anusara-focused practice in a studio.”

How did your internship shift inform health and your life until now?

“Learning the principles and practices of day to day life with an Ayurvedic focus was life-changing for me. Since my time with Cate, I have continued to incorporate these into my life, including a meditation practice, dietary changes, and Anusara yoga (when I can find it). On top of this, I also took with me many of Cate’s other principles and practices—natural birth control, seeking out sources of high-nutrient, local food (raw milk, biodynamic produce), homebirthing, and more.”

What is your opinion of this opportunity to study Anusara Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine in exchange for a 1/2 work week for a year?

If you are open to a new experience, this will change your life in a very positive way. If you are already somewhat familiar with Ayurvedic medicine or Anusara yoga, this year will most definitely deepen your practices and further ingrain them in your life.

What did you enjoy/dislike about Driggs, Idaho?

Driggs is in a beautiful location at the foot of the Tetons. It’s a fantastic place for hiking, skiing, biking, mountain biking, etc. It is a unique mix of two types of people—the adventurous/outdoors type and the Mormons (both of whom are quite nice). There is an awesome biodynamic farm just outside of Driggs (that I hope is still thriving!) that has incredible food (meat, cheese, produce, eggs, raw milk, etc). Also, it’s fun to be close to Jackson, WY, for a bigger selection of restaurants, shops, etc.

What did you learn from Cate in your interning with her?

“A better question would be, what didn’t I learn from Cate? I was inspired to grow and evolve as a person by learning from and observing Cate. Watching Cate and her business grow encouraged me to push myself and ask of myself – what more could I be doing to help others to feel well and to live beautifully. I learned a tremendous amount about ayurveda – something that had always intimidated me in the past but something I found fascinating at the same time. Cate breaks ayurveda down into real life, real simple practices that are approachable from wherever you are at and she’ll meet you there. Seeing the way that Cate connects with her clients inspired me to seek that same connection with others so that I too could help them to feel their very best in all aspects of their lives. I learned a lot about running a business, helping out with both yogahealer and Yoga Tejas I really got a grasp on what it takes to run a successful business. It takes a lot of work and a lot of help to be successful but I know now that I want to one day be my own boss, design my own schedule and prioritize the health of myself, my family and my community. I am on the path to practice ayurveda and hope to someday soon be certified in Anusara yoga – that pretty much sums it up! I want to be like Cate when I grow up! And every step I take in that direction helps me to help myself and to help others. I am eternally grateful for her openness, kindness and generosity.”

How did your internship shift inform health and your life until now?

Wow! It has shifted and informed my life on every level in every way. From the way that I eat to my daily routines.  From my yoga practice to my meditation practice and everything in between. I have always focused on living a healthy life. But today, five years after I first met Cate I can honestly say that I have never felt better! I am full of energy, I have beautiful skin, my body weight is spot on and I am often complimented on my inner “glow.” I attribute the changes to my ayurvedic lifestyle and daily practices – both of which were introduced to me by Cate.

What is your opinion of this opportunity to study Anusara Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine in exchange for a 1/2 work week for a year?

If I could do it I would! If I was there this wouldn’t be posted because the job would be filled! There is an endless amount to learn from the opportunity and I think it will change your life – whoever you are!

What did you enjoy/dislike about Driggs, Idaho?

Liz 220x300 Live In Yoga InternI love Driggs. The yoga community there is unlike anything I have experienced elsewhere! The community at large is amazing, tight knit, ever supportive and compassionate. The opportunities for recreation are unbeatable (don’t tell anyone!) and the snow is out of this world amazing! Every now and then it would drive me a little crazy that I couldn’t just run into the market to grab something – not out of inconvenience but because I would inevitably run into a dear friend and have to stop and catch up. Nothing ever happened at lightening speed for that reason. But now, living away, in a much larger city I appreciate every little detail about Driggs, Idaho and I would give anything to stop by the market or the studio and get “stuck” there catching up with my dear friends. Oh, how I miss that place! Move there! You’ll never look back and it will certainly change your life!
