Q & A on the Anusara Yoga Immersions:
What is an Anusara Yoga Immersion?
Anusara Yoga understands the process of learning yoga philsophy and alignment takes immersing oneself. The Immersions are the opportunity to check yourself into a 5 day yoga clinic, with masterful instructors, for a tour through yoga in your body.
During an Immersion, you will engage in yoga on the mat, as well as breathing practices (pranayama), philosophy , history, anatomy, meditation and skillful conversation. Immerse yourself and you will discover new depths in your body, mind and spirit. Truly.
Who is qualified to partipant in an Immersion?
Yoga students familiar with public Anusara Yoga classes are perfect candidates for Immersions.
At our studios, we encourage all students to take Immersions. Without taking Immersions, it becomes exceedingly difficult to have a major breakthrough in your yoga practice. The reason is that it takes immersing yourself on the mat, with skillful teachers, to guide you into your next yoga evolution. Interested students, regardless of which yoga poses you enjoy are all eligible for Immersions! Don’t hold back just because you think you are not ready yet.
I thought Immersions were for people who wanted to become yoga teachers….
While people who want to teach Anusara Yoga are required to take all 3 Immersions prior to an Anusara Yoga Teacher Training, the Immersions are about understanding the method of this skillful, enlightening yoga practice. We encourage anyone serious about learning how to optimize their health for a lifetime to participate in the Immersion process.
We haven’t had a single student regret taking an Immersion with us.
Do I have to take the Immersions in order, 1, 2, 3?
Because we are located in a rural, remote location with a small population, exceptions can be made for taking Immersion 2 and 3 out of order. However, all participants are better off taking Immersion 1 before Immersion 2 or Immersion 3.
I’m injured. Can I still participate in an Immersion?
Yes. We’ve had students with chronic and acute injuries heal quickly through taking an Immersion. The Universal Principles of Alignment will serve you greatly. Simply communicate your injuries to us ahead of time.
What materials do I need for the Immersions?

From Our Students:
The Anusara Immersion course completely changed my life. I went into it thinking that I might eventually teach yoga. But I had no idea how much my mind would be blown by what I learned. The people I connected with – both Neesha and Cate, and the other students in the kula – were amazing. As I did the second and third parts of the immersion, I just went deeper and deeper from that initial foundation. Not only did I experience a metamorphasis in my physical practice, but my attitude toward my life and the people around me in everyday interactions shifted and has continued to shift over the past 18 months since my first immersion experience. You and Cate are the perfect balance of chit and ananda!! I am now teaching yoga twice a week at a local studio, and the journey is continuing.
- Robin, Newfoundland
I was intrigued with the depth of the Anusara science and Tantric Philosophy that carries through all the Anusara teachings after just one yoga class at Akasha.
After a few more classes I realized this is it for me and signed up for all 3 Immersions in 2011 with Neesha and Cate. One of he best things I did in my life, which has changed for ever. The study and practice of the Universal Principles of Alignment as an expression of a life affirming way to bring our body and mind in harmony with the Supreme Consciousness was and is an ever evolving transformative process for me. Through the depth and clarity of Cate and Neesha’s teachings I was able to absorb the various aspects of Anusara Yoga and the Tantric Philosophy and am now living my life more fully in relation to my environment.
Namaste,
Karin Kean
