Hey Cate -

I just wanted to let you know that I got your Good Morning Yogis book and it’s great! Stella and I read it together and then she read the whole thing to Brian.

She got pretty sick earlier this winter after refusing to take heed of my recommendations (they do that at 8!), so now she’s a bit more interested in taking care of her health.

Thanks again for all you are doing. You rock!

I had the best compliment last night that is also a compliment to you. A student said to me. “The real reason I wanted to take this workshop is that I have watched the changes in you and really want to know more.” I was deeply touched and gladdened.

I was speaking to my mom this morning about the cleanse, and she was blown away. She said, “You sound amazing.” And I realized, she was right. I was really speaking from a grounded place and it was ME talking. Nice feeling.

Hi Cate,

Just wanted to let you know that I had a meeting with John and at the beginning I thanked him for encouraging me to learn more Ayurveda, and raved about your LAC course and told him I was taking it again and basically every Anusara teacher should take it.

HI Cate

It’s Thanksgiving here in Canada and I just wanted to say thanks for being such a positive influence in my life this last year. I’ve been away in Montreal visiting my family and studying with Paul Muller and so missed the first couple weeks of the Mentors, and the LAC, but have been listening to the calls and am so incredibly inspired. I love that I get to be part of all three of the convos you are heading up this year and am amazed at how fluent you are in each area. The people in my community who are on the cleanse are already buzzing and everyone is talking about it. I can’t wait to see what unfolds from here.
I’ll be on the Mentors call live this Thursday and every Thursday from here on out.

Sending love and deep appreciation your way,
Nat

Thanks so much for your classes Cate, I REALLY enjoyed them.

What I am craving, which may be totally different from what others want, is maybe a 1/2 hour or so of just some process time of what has been challenging for us in teaching and then getting into some nitty gritty of anatomy of a particular Apex asana or group of asanas. IE the anatomy, which muscles, the emotional or healing properties of the asana, other asanas that would get you ready for that asana, how to work with injuries in that particular asana. I got this in my teacher training, but it was so many asanas at once, I would love to focus on just one or a couple related ones, and really dig in!

Sorry if this is too much verbage, I am excited about the yoga community here in Driggs very much!

Katie

Hi Cate,

First let me say how much I enjoyed last weeks yoga at Bodywise. I’m new to yoga (I’m sure you noticd) but really enjoyed it.

I would like to register for yuor spring cleanse in Driggs for dates April 2-6. I’ll get too busy to do the May cleanse and hoping you still have room in April.

You can contact me via email at kevinL@pdt.net or info@dryridge.com. My home phone is 354-2284 and cell is 201-2284.

Thank you and let me know what works.

Deb

Hi Cate,

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks…The yoga intensive last week was incredible, and I appreciated the energy and deliberateness that you put into the classes.

I look forward to more learning with you when I’m back in the valley.

Namaste,

Erin Merrick

Cate,

First and foremost — thanks so much for all your lessons! You are a wonderful teacher. Also, you made my day when you brought up Ken Wilber. I have considered him one of my “intellectual lovers” for a bit now.

I thought I’d give you a bit of an update….

Thanks for being open to a work trade! I intend to be back here for Memorial weekend and can do what you have in mind. However, in the off chance I am not back, I hope I can help you in another way.

End of April, I am returning to Peterborough, ON (NE of Toronto) to move out, clean, garden, and sell a house — a base I have had for 18 years. There is a lot to do, and a lot to take care of before I return. Having said that, I also have a partner in crime (bruce), a dog (luna) and work here that I need to return to sooner than later.

I will keep you posted and we’ll see how opportunities come together.

Hello Cate,

I just wanted to let you know that I so enjoyed the cleanse experience. It has opened my eyes and mind to my relationship with food. I have actually enjoyed cooking and have been making friends with my kitchen.
I am still making kitchari some days… I really crave it. I now have a better understanding and of how food effects me . This past couple of weeks eating all this freshly prepared food has made my mind so clear. I have been able to focus and actually finish things that I start. My energy level has been elevated and I just feel more grounded. I always thought that I ate health, but this is a whole new ballgame.

I have purchased about 5 new books on Ayruveda and am fascinated with this ancient science of life.

Thank you for your guidance and for opening up the door to a healthier new future.
I am singing your praises so be prepare for more phone calls from my students. I think we will have a great turn out in August.

One last question. As the weather gets hotter here I so begin to crave colder things like smoothies, salads, an occasional trip to the
DQ. Will these throw me completely out of wack if I indulge? Or are there things to do to counter the effects of the cold.

Blessings

Marsha

Let me know when you get some refined sesame oil in. The oil I got recently is very aromatic. I lost a black cosmetic bag some where, it had lipsticks, a tape measure, super glue, emery board, sewing kit, sunscreen… what every girl needs to get by. Did it fall out of my purse in the yurt when we had the pre cleanse class?? call me at 456-2356 leave a message. PS I lost 5 pounds, have not needed allergy meds yet and feel much less “blonde”.

Thanks

Nancy Gail

Hi Cate,

You don’t need to answer my last email. We can just set our mutual intention this afternoon. That will make it perfect.

I will see you at 2:15 p.m. I can use George’s car.

You have no idea what a gift you have given me by all this work this week. My body feels entirely different when I walk.

With love and gratitude,

Barbara

Hi Cate,

Just some positive feedback about the fall course. one thing i really appreciated was the evening classes and time. I felt like #1) it allowed for everyone who works daytime to still attend and #2) it was such a calming and centering time, allowing more inwardness….sometimes i think it is easy to get distracted at home at night with things to do or family, and the yoga/meetings at this time created a nice space of dedication to ourselves and the cleanse. One other piece of follow-up…for those who are first timers to the cleanse or the principles of ayruveda, i wonder if a one page hand out just defining some of the terminology and real basic concepts used would be very helpful. i understand not everyone in the course may need it, but i think some, like myself would…..for example, i was not aware of the basic definitions of kapha, pitta, etc. and they are referred to in the recipes and classes. Certainly, i am now inspired to study on my own, but during the initial pre-cleanse meeting, an optional basic handout would be great. Thank you so much for offering the cleanse, i loved it and am inspired to con’t yoga and learn more. If you could recommend a very basic, beginner book for the practice of ayruveda and principles, i would be very grateful. Also, i would love the article you mentioned regarding the anthropology of birth when you can….i’ll be stoping in to the studio on Tues. this week and i also work at Dark horse all day wed. and fri. of this week.

Danielia Kotler

Hi Cate, Just wanted to thank you for your time and attention during the cleanse. It was unfortunate for me not not be able to be on the phone with everybody, but being able to listen to it the next morning was great. I still felt the connection.

I had a question about the pale tongue that you answered on the phone, so thank you. Thank you for the details about the spices and the foods, love knowing about that, it makes more sense to me. I do not like the cumin and coriander or cilantro. Maybe I was never Indian in a past life? ;-) Or Mary Kate suggested I ate too much in another life. Knowing that I can still benefit by taking the herbs orally or use the ginger/honey/lemon aperitif is helpful. I to like turmeric and ginger too, so I will be able to incorporate those.

Blessings to you, and nice to meet you,
P.S. I am interested in the 9 month Ayurvedic lifestyle course, keep me informed

Dorothy, Anusara Yoga Student

Just wanted to let you know that I’m feeling Much better with the
conclusion of my cleanse. The sore joints I was telling you about are
just about cleared up (I realised a noticeable improvement yesterday
and its continuing today) and my energy level is increased. I did
work (cycle, run, yoga, weights) through the cleanse, just not as hard
as I was but am now increasing (a lot) all of it with ease. I’m still
drinking green lemonade and really watching what I eat with much
smaller quantities resulting in weight loss and increased energy.

I’ve been taking some time to better understand the alkaline/acid
thing you just introduced me to and things are making alot more
sense. The recipes you shared and green lemonade in particular are
really alkalizing. From what I’m experiencing I think I was/(still am
a bit) too acidic and by eating differently joint pain and muscle
soreness are disappearing.

Usually after a cleanse I always drift back to the inclusion of
unhealthy things in my diet, but for the first time I really feel I
can maintain a good diet, with intense exercise moving on.

Anyway, wanted to share this with you and thanks for the cleanse…

Hope things are going well for y’all. Hi to Winston and Indigo.

Dave

Dear Cate,

First of all, I want to say thank you for this perfect timing with the spring cleanse. I was looking for something to help me get back to my center, and I do believe this cleanse is helping. It is well planned out, the recipes are interesting and tasty. I did not feel deprived in any way although I have felt hungry this week.

I thought the meditations were helpful. The first one where you said to get comfortable with emptiness…. to make space for the Divine shakti to enter really spoke to me and I was able to keep from snacking throughout the week. I’m not much of a snacker anyway, but when I feel hungry I usually do eat a little something.

The phone calls generally happened right when I needed a little boost of support, it was really nice to know I was not doing this alone.

You mentioned something about feeling nourished through your other senses…. of course a heightened sense of taste, but the others too…. I have noticed that I crave seeing colorful flowers and I spray essential oil more often just to smell the scent. Also, the oil massage is a real treat. And you suggested alternate nostril breath to stay grounded — I usually practice alternate nostril breath daily, and during the cleanse I’ve found that my breath is much longer and slower; it was (is) an interesting sensation. I always wondered how the yogis could take one breath for up to I don’t know how many counts they say in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika but it’s some outrageous number. I felt I had some insight into how the yogis could maintain their breath for that long. It was cool.

I am excited about the cleanse because I do feel that I have regained some good habits I used to have and have learned some new things as well. The acid/alkaline chart is very helpful to keep in mind coming out of the cleanse too.
Thank you again.

Namaste,

Kelly Certified Anusara Yoga Instructor

Cate,

I totally enjoyed the Spring Cleanse. Here are some of my thought.

1. The day of water fasting was easier than I expected because of the preparation you gave us. I quit drinking coffee and wine after the Pre-cleanse workshop and started paying attention to my food choices. That, along with 2 walks and a day to myself made the fasting day go easily. I think starting the cleanse of a Sunday, when most people can be at home, is great.

2. Food choices. I am the type of person who eats out of necessity, doesn’t do much planning, doesn’t give much thought about my meals, and doesn’t like to cook. Doing the green lemonade and kitchari cleanse forced me to cook and prepare more than I ever do and to know that I have a good healthy choice for the next meal. I found the food prep enjoyable and am continuing to plan my meals, spend more time in the kitchen and make better choices. Who knows, I may even like to cook one day!

3. Morning routine. I totally enjoyed the morning routine and will continue to incorporate the tongue scraping, 30 minute walk, oil massage (probably once a week) and meditation into my daily routine. The meditation is still tough for me, but I am working on it. If I don’t have time to sit for 10 minutes, I feel my 30 minute morning walk is a form of meditation and allows me to think, focus and go inward. Since last year was such a difficult year, full of changes, for me (I had knee surgery, Donn was very sick and in and out of the hospital, I sold my business, and sold my house and moved), it was great to spend some time in my new environment and really enjoy it by going for a walk every morning and spending some quality time at home, which I haven’t had the chance to do.

4. Yoga. I enjoyed the yoga sessions and will work on making time to go to at least 1 class a week. With my hectic schedule, I find that yoga is very relaxing, calming and centering.

5. Emotional. I definitely worked through a couple of issues that had been bothering me. You were right on when you said you might be thinking about something over and over during the cleanse and then be able to release it. I certainly experienced that and have been able to move on.

6. Summary. Overall, I feel lighter and more alive both physically and mentally. This was a great (drastic) change of course for me, but certainly something I enjoyed and needed.

Thank you so much for all the time, energy and compassion you put into the cleanse. You certainly made it a dynamic experience.

Best,

Brooke Saindon, Spring Cleanse Course Participant

Hey Cate,

I’m not sure when you’ll receive this email, because I know you have a hectic schedule this week. First off, I wanted to thank you so much for all you offered to the Immersion and workshop participants. I learned SO much from you and so appreciated your grounded, straightforward, fun and playful teaching style. I walked away with SO much practical information that I can immediately put to use to help myself and my family get more balanced. Thank you!!

This brings me to the next topic which is that I am considering doing your teleconference course. How much of the teleconference course would repeat what you taught this past weekend, and how much would be different?

Thanks again Cate. You’re a great teacher and I’m super glad this worked out this year. Let me know what you think can work for next year.

Blessings,

Deb Nebauer ( Senior Anusara Yoga Instructor)

Hi Cate!

I finally have a chance to thank you profusely for the incredible time at the immersion. So here goes, thank you thank you thank you thank you!

Truly, it opened my mind and body in so many ways it’s been hard to know where to go from here. ..In a corny way I feel saved, like thank god I’m learning this now rather than continuing to trundle down a road of injury and misalignment.

You are an amazing woman, so inspiring and grounding and moving, just by you authentically being you. You have the stuff of great teachers and mentors, and I’m excited for you, knowing this is only the beginning. It’s an honor to be part of it, and I hope I get to continue learning with you for years to come. I know you want to try to be a ‘funnier’ teacher and better storyteller, but let me tell you, don’t lose sight of what you have. There’s incredible wisdom there – anyone who spends an ounce of time with you can see it.

Hooray for that and all things beautiful! (like Indigo!)

see you later this winter, I look forward to updates from you via the mailing list.

The course was great for me – especially the reminder to slow down, enjoy growing a baby, feed it well, and ask for help! I tried no wheat/sugar for a while and kept up with yoga, some meditation (still a challenge for me to fit that in), and exercise. I felt very mobile, light, and energized throughout most of my pregnancy – even did the swim leg of a triathlon at 30 weeks. I think the third was the easiest pregnancy, birth, and recovery because I figured out how to ignore the medical people (by not going to see them). Most of all I like your whole concept of evolving childbirth to the next level at a collective group (or in many ways, going back to how it is or used to be in most cultures). It is such a freaken mess in the mainstream. So many C-sections, so many stressed out babies, so many drugs. I’ve done some writing about it that I will share once refined.

Just wanted to share how grateful I am to know Cate and to have the benefit of her living and healing knowledge. Since I’ve met Cate, so many aspects of my life have changed from blocked and ignorant as to why to flow and balance. Her ability to convey profound concepts in a straightforward way have enabled me to see with much greater awareness and purpose.
Cate’s energy and verve for life is infectious. Whether you want to heal, solve a problem, optimize your gifts or make transformative life changes, I heartily recommend Cate. –

I’m absolutely thrilled that I signed up for you cleanse course. It has been MORE than worth the cost. I’ve learned so many meaningful and insightful pieces in just this one week. You are such an inspiring teacher and I hope to continue working with you beyond this cleanse. At some point, I’d like to talk more about the Ayurveda aspect of your work. I think I might be interested in studying it more in depth.

Dear Cate: I really enjoyed the course, the information, and the new way of life to which I am using/not using, using/not etc. I can’t forget what I’ve learned so I will continue to read, learn, and use the tools you gave me this year..I have phone calls to listen, to relisten, and absorb. Before i began ALC1, I completed two correspondence courses in Ayurveda…Ayurvedic Healing Course by David Frawley and Ayurvedic Nutrition by Atreya Smith. I enrolled in Cate’s course because my mind was filled with lots of ayurvedic information but I was having trouble integrating it into my life and practice. I have enjoyed the food and practical lifestyle suggestions in this course immensely. The conference calls have made the readings more understandable and applicable.
I have been trained in Osteopathy and Naturopathy; and have been practicing integrative medicine for twenty years.

Thanks so much for doing the session—everyone really seemed to enjoy it and learn a lot. I think it was a great introduction!
The cleanse went really, really well. It was a hugely eye-opening experience for me and has really opened up my perspective on food and my body and mind, etc. I took about three weeks in total. I was amazed by my level of energy and how much happier and more settled I felt in general. I’m definitely planning to do another in the fall! Thanks again! I’m so glad that Laurie introduced me to you and your work!

So I am so grateful to you Cate and others support. This has been a wonderful experience on so many levels. I truly enjoy being liberated from coffee, my nasty habit of “picking” all day at food (especially my kids plates!) and the freedom in my jeans. What’s interesting is the fear that I had coming in, I now have going out. Can I sustain this mindfulness? I guess I just need to be steadfast on my intensions and a lot of Grace. Looking forward the call on Wednesday.

I’m doing a “foundation’s of yoga” program at Yoga Mandala that includes Ayurvedic classes and Tantra and chanting and the whole thing. I feel like I’ve been around it all for so many years, an always piecing together my own versions of things. Will be nice to just hear someone say it all out loud in a sort of structured way. It’s so funny, though, I don’t know if you have any idea how much I learned from you, but you have really given me a good base for understanding the philosophy just by virtue of being my friend and sharing what you were learning with me while you were first learning it. You were a good teacher. :)   A.R.. Berkeley, Cate’s college buddy

I would have never thought that the cause of my purple hands was posture, but since I have been keeping an eye on it, my hands seem fine! I also am doing ISAT  testing in my school right now and I have been focusing on my posture during the tests as well, so that my brain stays “unclouded.” I think it really helped. Thank you for providing such and awesome and easy answer to my minor issues!

Hey Cate! I’ve just finished listening to the conference call from Thursday and having been transitioning out of the cleanse, so I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you so much for such a beautiful course. The guidance and conference calls throughout the course were amazing! I’ve done cleanses or fasting before, but this was a totally different experience. It was absolutely transformative in such a sweet way. I feel a very deep sense of being in touch with myself and a certain calmness and clarity that I think will guide me through this transition and help bring some of these things into my life. I also feel like I’m trying to contain and reserve the energy I have right now so that it doesn’t run out, but also trying to attune to the natural ebb and flow of that energy, knowing that it will come and go. I loved your discussion if the niyamas, though, because seeing that through the context of eating will help sustain that heightened vibration. As is usually the case with things we find that are this good, I just want to go deeper and learn more. So, thank you thank you thank you!

You have made the information and lifestyle transitioning very approachable- Thank you for putting it out there. It’s making a world of difference with my relationship with me, my husband, my kids, my dogs, my family, my parties… I could go on and on and I’m sure it is rippling on without my watching. Very cool.

Your last ALC2 teleconference was transformational for me. Your words about the relationship between prana and agni really hit a personal cord for me. Also your cleanse conference was awesome. Again, your words hit me deep in the heart where again a light bulb seemed to go off in my head. It was not so much the topics but more little bits of sentences that had such shakti and deep vibrational wisdom. Thanks Cate for your help in polishing my inner light. Blessings and Blessings to you.
