I had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Claudia Welch last week, as a guest speaker for my Living Ayurveda Course. Dr. Claudia recently published Balance Your Hormones, Balance Your Life (which has a 5 star rating on Amazon).
Dr. Claudia’s mastery of the Ayurvedic texts and the Tantric texts is remarkable and unique. Add this to her degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and her mastery is unprecedented. Usually, I don’t share the guest speakers on my blog. I am making an exception as a gift to my yoga community, which is in a time of heavy heart upheaval.

This interview includes:
- Top issues in women’s health… from an Ayurvedic perspective
- The dangers of outspending your inner resources
- Sex hormones and stress hormones as shakti
- How the main nadis connect to the heart
- Ojas redefined
- The 10 great vessels defined
- Avoiding causes of afflictions of the mind
- Why alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhana) is imperative
This interview will shift the way you relate to your heart, your subtle and physical physiology. Dr. Claudia begins with an outside in perspective, and quickly ends up unpacking a vital sutra from the Charaka Samhita:
If you want to protect the ojas in the 10 great vessels, there is 1 main thing you need to do, avoid causes of affliction of the mind.
If you who have no idea what this means…. listen and find out. If you already think they know what this means… listen and blow your current understanding out of what is already known. I leave you with a simple profound teaching from Dr. Claudia’s new book:
“There is a rule I made up. It’s based on Eastern medical principals. It’s called The Inverse Proportion Rule and it goes like this: The more complicated your emotional life or physical life, the more simple your diet should be.”
